Why did I choose ‘The Black Tie’ as my site title? The trends and fads now will fade. Like the bright red pants with khaki jackets I see, will they still be around next year or even three months from now? Probably not. But a black tie will be in style ten years from now and it was in style over fifty years ago. The trends and fads now are great and all but I want something that’s more refined. It is a statement of class and has become timeless.

I could be wrong but I think women like men that can dance because It means they know how to work and control their body and how to move and connect with a partner. In addition to that they know how to lead the girl and present her in a beautiful fashion.
If you don’t know how to yet, then I suggest you take lessons and learn.

The 5 P’s
- Poise - Maintain your composure (Never lose your cool)
- Passion - Do things with passion or not at all (work, school, art or anything you love)
- Presence - Don’t think too much. Be present in the moment
- Purpose - What are you giving to the World? What kind of legacy do you want to leave behind?
- Persistence - Always practice the above with persistence.
I keep getting asked how to be ‘gentlemen with an edge’, so here are five things to keep in mind:
- Poise - Be mindful of your composure (always keep your cool)
- Passion - Have a passion for something like relationships, work, school or life itself
- Presence - Be present in the moment, get out your head and pay attention to what’s going on. Be aware.
- Purpose - Find what it is that you are destined to give the world.
- Persistence - Always keep at it and practice each. Combine all to motivate yourself and move forward in life.

Call me old fashioned but…
I think guys should take the time to make the first move to ask out the girl he’s interested in. I find that a lot of couples just rush into things without getting to know each other. What’s the rush anyways? I think it’s better to build that trust and love on a solid foundation. People take that stage to lightly or for granted. When it progesses to a more serious stage there should be a mutual understanding of commitment. If you care for someone, stick with them and only them. I think men should be gentlemen and women should be ladies. A man should provide and protect while a woman follow his lead. We are equals but we have masculine and feminine roles in relationships. I’m a little old school but I think it’s needed in today’s world. I know not everyone will agree with this but I would like to see some chivalry put back into society.
